kerala parippu curry recipe, easy to make moong dal curry for kerala sadya

  • moong dal or cheruparippu - ½ cup
  • turmeric powder - a pinch
  • water - 4 cups
  • salt - to taste
  • for grinding
  • coconut - ⅓ cup
  • shallots - 2 - 3
  • cumin seeds - ½ teaspoon
  • green chili - 2
  • for tempering
  • coconut oil - 2 teaspoons
  • mustard seeds - ¼ teaspoon
  • dry red chili - 2
  • curry leaves - few
  1. Dry roast dal until light golden brown color.
  2. Pressure cook moong dal with 4 glasses of water. Add turmeric powder also. You can also cook it in an open pan. Once cooked, mash it to a smooth paste. Keep on low flame.
  3. Mean while, grind together the ingredients given under the heading"for grinding" and keep it aside.
  4. Once the dal is cooked well, mash it nicely with the back or a ladle,.
  5. Now bring the flame to low, and then add the ground mixture. Mix it well and let it cook again for another 5 minutes till everything gets combined well. Turn off the stove.
  6. In another pan, heat oil, add all the ingredients given under "for seasoning" and then add it to the curry.
  7. parippu curry is ready. Serve it along with rice and a spoon of ghee.
