  • rava or sooji - 1 cup
  • curd or yogurt - ½ cup
  • cumin seeds or jeera - ½ teaspoon
  • onion - 1, small- finely chopped
  • ginger - ½ teaspoon, grated
  • green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • salt - to taste
  • coriander leaves - 1 tablespoon
  • curry leaves - few
  1. Add sooji or rava, curd, cumin seeds, onion, ginger, green chili, salt, coriander leaves, curry leaves, to a bowl.  Mix well.  If the mixture is dry, sprinkle a little water and mix it well.
  2. Cover and keep it aside for 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Grease your palms with oil.  Take small pinch of dough, and flatten it on your palms.  Make a hole at the center.
  4. Heat oil in a pan.  When the oil is hot enough, carefully slide the vada into the hot oil and fry on a medium flame till golden brown.
  5. Remove the vada from the hot oil using a slotted spoon.  Place them on an absorbent paper to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve rava vada hot with tomato ketchup or with coconut chutney.
